Murrieta Rotary’s 2019 Four Way Speech Contest – Entries Now Being Accepted

The Rotary Club of Murrieta’s Four-Way Speech Contest will be held on Wednesday April 10, 2019 starting at 6:30 PM in the Murrieta Valley School District Auditorium. High school–age students living in the local area are invited to compete. The contest gives speakers the opportunity to address current topics using Rotary’s Four-Way Test concepts as criteria and discussion points.

The Murrieta Speech Contest will award $800 in cash prizes. The winner will advance to the district elimination contest to be held in Riverside in late April. The Rotary District awards more than $1000 in cash prizes.
The Four-Way Speech Contest manual for 2019 is now available along with new application forms and new rules. The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, March 29, 2019. Space is limited to the first 15 applications received.

The Rotary Four-Way Test, which was created in the early 1930s, has been used by businesses, industry, government groups, civic organizations, schools, colleges, and universities. An ethical tenet in today’s culture, it states:
Of the things that we think, say or do:

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Winners will be decided by three professionally qualified judges. First place $350, Second place $250, Third place $150, and Best Novice Speaker $50.
